Danish Days

Old manor house down by the sea
    Far from my native land,
The morning fog lays at your door
    While covering the strand.

I’ve seen you in a story book
Or so it feels that way,
    This charming Danish picture of
    A watercolor day.

With June clouds painted tea cup blue,
Where white gulls fill the sky,
And roses climb on every fence
    I happen to walk by.

    Inside the park, I watch kids play;
Each child a blue eyed blond.
They laugh and chase the ducks around,
    Then wade into the pond.

Oh Helsingor, I still love you,
    I'm sad when I'm away-
If I could choose from all the world,
    in Denmark I would stay!
