The Humble Flower
A humble flower serves her call,
by doing what she‘s meant to do:
unfurling petals, spreading joy,
just simple things, her whole life through.
By nightfall, with her petals bent,
and fragrant blossoms gathered 'round,
she twists her roots deep in the soil;
small toddling buds prop above ground.
From birth to death she must make do
with what from nature she receives;
her task: to beautify the earth
with pastel blossoms and green leaves.
Her legacy? Fond memories
in those who daily pass her by.
One night cold winter touches her
and breathes, “Your time has come to die.”
